Austin Meade

Austin Meade delivers songs and stories that are contradictory yet cohesive, much like the Texas native himself. His breakthrough album, Black Sheep, is a bold collection of 12 tracks ranging from the layered storytelling of “Déjà Vu” to the dark alt-pop of “Happier Alone”, to the Sabbath-inspired weight of “Dopamine Drop.”
Raised on a mix of metal, classic rock, emo, folk, and Red Dirt country, Meade’s influences span from Judas Priest and Whitesnake to Paramore, John Mayer, Tom Petty, and the Arctic Monkeys. That eclecticism defines his sound: guitar-driven, lyrically fearless, and unafraid to challenge the formula. As he explains, “I want people to feel like they’re in the room with the stories in my songs; to live within that experience.”
Produced by Taylor Kimball (Koe Wetzel, Read Southall, Kody West), Black Sheep pushes Meade into new sonic territory with fuzzed-out guitars, pedal-heavy experimentation, and lyrics that balance heartland honesty with alt-rock edge. Songs like “Settle Down” and “Cave In” highlight his knack for vivid storytelling—two-lane highways, speed-trap towns, and the restless search for identity. The title track is his declaration of independence: “I don’t need to fit in… I own who and what I am.”
With a sound that channels Tom Petty’s heart, Jimmy Page’s grit, and the narrative depth of modern Americana, Meade has quickly become one of the most talked-about young songwriters on the scene. As the Dallas Observer praised, his “songwriting prowess is beyond his years, with rich guitar-driven melodies that call back to when Petty and Page ruled the stage.”
Austin Meade is the rare artist who can break your heart one minute and blow your speakers the next. With Black Sheep, he proves that being an outsider isn’t a burden—it’s a badge of honor.
