Alex Meixner is a multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, educator, and passionate ambassador of polka. With roots in classical, jazz, and ethnic music, Alex blends pop, funk, jazz, and polka into a unique, high-energy style that unites audiences across generations. His performances aren’t just shows — they’re celebrations of culture, community, and joy.

Early Beginnings: Nurtured by Music

Born into a family of professional Austrian musicians, Alex’s journey began early. Guided by his father (the third generation of their family band):

Age 3: Began formal piano lessons.
Age 6: Took the stage with the accordion.
Age 11: Performed with Joe Oberaitis and Walter Ostanek while touring nationally with his father’s band.
High school: Played trumpet with the London Symphony Orchestra.
College: Studied at Ithaca College while maintaining a national touring schedule.

Achievements & Recognition

18 years old: Appeared on Walter Ostanek’s Grammy-winning Music and Friends.
International Polka Association Hall of Fame: Lifetime Achievement inductee (2022).
Performs styles from Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Mexico, Poland, and America, infused with modern energy that draws diverse audiences.

2016: Featured in national Hormel Pepperoni commercials with BBDO.
