Raised in Ft. Worth, Texas, Alex Weeden’s journey into music started when he caught a glimpse of Ted Nugent on MTV as a 10-year-old. Jokingly telling his dad he wanted to play guitar, a few days later he was holding his very first Stratocaster knockoff and beginner’s amp. From there, Alex taught himself how to play, forming his first band, Relay, by the 7th grade.
From Ft. Worth to Austin
After honing his craft in several Ft. Worth bands, Alex studied Restaurant and Hotel Management at Texas Tech University before moving to Austin to pursue music full-time. There, he joined Honeybrowne as guitarist, backing vocalist, and songwriter. His work is featured on multiple Honeybrowne recordings, including original tracks:
- “Easyville”
- “Fall Asleep”
- “Good For Nuthin” (title track of the album)
Career with Miranda Lambert
In 2005, Alex landed his dream role, joining Miranda Lambert as her lead guitarist — a position he continues to hold nearly two decades later. Together, they’ve toured the world and helped define modern country’s live sound. Lambert has since become one of the genre’s most awarded artists, while Alex has been an essential part of her touring and recording success.
