Adam Hood

Adam Hood: Solo artist. Frontman. Songwriter. For more than a decade, he’s been carving out a southern sound that blends country, soul, and American roots music into something raw, genuine, and unmistakably his own.
Born and raised in Opelika, Alabama, Hood grew up with working-class grit. By 16, he was already a hometown staple, holding down a weekly two-night residency at a local restaurant. Armed with songs from John Hiatt, Hank Williams Jr., and Vince Gill, he honed his craft every weekend before hitting the road nationwide—including a three-year tour opening for the legendary Leon Russell.
But Hood’s impact isn’t confined to his own stage. His songs have become hits for some of country music’s biggest names—Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, Anderson East, Josh Abbott Band, Lee Ann Womack, Brent Cobb—cementing him as both a behind-the-scenes hitmaker and a front-and-center performer.
In 2016, he signed with Warner/Chappell Nashville and GRAMMY-winning producer Dave Cobb’s Low Country Sound, all while maintaining a relentless schedule of 100+ shows annually. His third solo release, Welcome to the Big World, set the stage for his acclaimed record Somewhere in Between—an album recorded live at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios over just two days. Produced by Oran Thornton (Miranda Lambert’s Revolution, Angaleena Presley’s Wrangled), it captures the grit, sweat, and soul of Hood’s concerts without a hint of studio polish.
Backed by guitarist Pat McLaughlin, bassist Lex Price, and drummer Jerry Roe, Hood tracked his vocals live alongside the band, creating a record that’s story-driven, autobiographical, and unflinchingly real. With co-writes from Brent Cobb (who guests on the electrified “She Don’t Love Me”), Josh Abbott, Jason Eady, and others, Somewhere in Between bridges the roadhouse fire of roots-rock with the tenderness of country ballads.
The songs are deeply personal: “Locomotive”, inspired by watching his daughter play with blocks; “Downturn”, a restless highway anthem about life on the road; and “Real Small Town”, a love letter to rural America’s grit and heart. Every lyric shines a light on everyday experiences—family, friends, Friday nights—anchored in the blue-collar authenticity that defines Hood’s life and work.
“It’s southern music,” Hood says. “The soulful side, the country side, the genuineness of southern culture, and the way I grew up. One of the t-shirts I sell at every show simply says ‘Southern Songs,’ and that’s a good summary of what I do. It’s what I’ve always done.”
