Amanda Pascali is the rising voice of America’s most ethnically diverse generation. A bilingual singer-songwriter, she creates music that captures the experience of growing up as a first-generation American. Her long-awaited new record, Roses and Basil — a collection of Sicilian-English translations and originals produced by Robert Ellis — is set for release in Summer 2025. Her genre, which she calls “Immigrant American Folk”, delivers a powerful narrative of being “too foreign for here, too foreign for home, and never enough for both.”
Named the 2021 Houston Chronicle Musician of the Year, Pascali has already built an international following after her songs went viral online, amassing hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide. She has performed everywhere from the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. to the European Union Parliament in Brussels, and her song “Over the Sea” was featured in the opening scene of the Italian film Indelebile (Family First) (2024). A Fulbright Fellow endorsed by both the U.S. State Department and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she pioneered the first comprehensive project to translate and revitalize Sicilian folk songs.
Born in New York City and based in Texas, Pascali blends folk/Americana with Mediterranean, Balkan, and Latin rhythms, carrying forward her family’s story of rebellion and resilience. With a father exiled for standing against his home government and a mother who rebuilt her life from scratch in 1980s Brooklyn, Amanda’s music is rooted in truth, diaspora, and the immigrant journey.
Her work extends beyond the stage: in 2024, she collaborated with the U.S. Embassy in Italy to open the first “American Space” in Sicily, where she led masterclasses on translation and American music. She has been honored by the Kerrville Folk Festival, the Houston Arts Alliance, the Mid-America Arts Alliance, the Lions Club International, and others. Today, she is a Fulbright Ambassador and board member of the music-activism nonprofit Music to Life, while also serving as a Harrington Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin, researching ethnomusicology and Italian Studies.
