Alastair Greene is a guitar virtuoso whose fiery blend of blues, rock, and soul has carried him from small clubs to festival stages around the world. Known for both his dynamic solo career and his work alongside legends like Grammy-winner Alan Parsons and Sugaray Rayford, Greene is a seasoned veteran with a sound that’s equal parts raw, authentic, and explosive.
His latest release, Standing Out Loud (2024), marks his 11th solo record and a bold declaration of where he stands in the modern blues-rock world. Recorded in Nashville with JD Simo at the helm for eight of the album’s tracks—and finished in his adopted hometown of Austin, TX—this record channels the spirit of the 1960s and ’70s greats while delivering Greene’s own muscular, swampy grooves. Blues Music Magazine has already hailed him as “a major talent in the blues-rock category.”
A native of Santa Barbara, California, and the grandson of trumpeter Chico Alvarez (Stan Kenton Band), Greene grew up immersed in music—his influences spanning Bach to The Beatles, Stevie Wonder to Stevie Ray Vaughan. After earning a scholarship to Berklee College of Music, he returned to California in the ’90s, forming the Alastair Greene Band in 1997. Since then, he’s released multiple acclaimed albums including Dream Team (4-star review in DownBeat, Album of the Year nod), and Live from the 805 (Rock Blues Album of the Year nominee).
From 2010 to 2017, Greene toured the globe as guitarist for the Alan Parsons Live Project. He’s also shared stages with Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, Walter Trout, and Tab Benoit, who signed him to Whiskey Bayou Records for two celebrated releases: The New World Blues (2020) and Alive in the New World (2023). In 2024, he partnered with Ruf Records for Standing Out Loud, expanding his reach even further with tours across the U.S. and over 40 European dates.
Onstage, Greene is a force of nature. With funky swamp grooves, soaring improvisation, and searing guitar tone, his music recalls the firepower of The Allman Brothers Band and the grit of Cream, while pushing firmly into the 21st century. Whether headlining festivals or igniting a packed club, Alastair Greene’s blues-rock power is undeniable—and he’s bringing it to audiences worldwide in 2024 and beyond.
